Economists say data released Wednesday showing an unexpected fall in construction during the final three months of 2007 puts some downside risk to their forecasts for next week's gross domestic product (GDP) for the December quarter. Business investment data released Thursday will also show how businesses are handling the RBA's rising interest rate regime and the US economic downturn. The Australian Bureau of Statistics' December quarter construction work done report shows a seasonally adjusted fall of 1.0 per cent, compared with the previous quarter, to $28,854 billion. Economists had expected a two per cent increase. "While there isn't a one-to-one link between work done and components in the national accounts, the soft result points to downside risk to next week's Q4 GDP," Westpac senior economist Matthew Hassan said.

Universal Healthcare Is a Fraud
Why do you think when you go to a doctor with a weight problem, they put you on pills or staple your stomach? They are not allowed to you that the secret to weight loss is to eat less and exercise more, that's why. There's no money to be made off that simple advice. Why do you think herbal remedies are outlawed and those who attempt to administer them are charged with practicing medicine without a license? Many natural remedies have a long history of being effective, sometimes more effective than prescription medications, but because they are derived from a natural source and can't be patented, big pharma and the AMA will not allow them to exist. by Watching (0 articles, 1 quicklinks, 181 comments) on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 11:35:11 AM .
