Just how super will Tuesday be for the Miss-Lou?

NATCHEZ — As Super Tuesday approaches, the line between the red and the blue will become more and more well defined, and as early as Tuesday night America could have clear contenders for the race for the presidency.

Every vote counts?

University of Mississippi's Director of the John C. Stennis Institute of Government, Marty Wiseman, said depending on Tuesday's outcome, Mississippi may or may not play an important role in the primary election.

Travels With the Bear

The values include seeking knowledge and finding answers; thinking ahead; planning and organizing; setting and achieving goals; having the courage to try news things; appreciating those around us; having a positive attitude; and having a winning attitude by seeking out guidance and positive role models.

For example, in "Traveling Bear and the Search for Treasure," Traveling Bear and his grandparents head into a cave to search for treasure. Throughout the venture into the cave, T-Bear faces challenges that require him to sustain courage and perseverance in order to achieve the goal of reaching the treasure chest of gems.

In "Traveling Bear and the Yellow Flipper Roller Coaster," T-Bear gets a lesson in thinking ahead as he and his friends Mookie and Chuga spend a day at the Big Top Amusement Park.

Alligators seized from home

Belisle's problem last year was one bad inning, one big inning, that sank so many of his starts, something he plans to rectify to solidify his spot as a starter for the Cincinnati Reds.

"This guy has potential to be a big winner for us," said Baker. "I've talked to him and he has confidence. He knows he can do it and it is frustrating when you're not doing it and know you can. Hopefully, last year really helped him.

"I know he was (8-9) in 175 innings — a pretty good workload for a guy who hasn't done that before," Baker added.

And his one-inning walks into Dreamland?

"A lot of times that's a phobia you can get over," he said. "It's like a pitcher who says, 'I know I'm going to give up a homer pretty soon,' then he gives up a homer.

Bath man indicted for kidnapping, assault

A 28-year-old Bath man was indicted Wednesday on kidnapping and assault charges for allegedly attacking a 16-year-old girl last August. Darren P. McEathron is accused of dragging the victim into a wooded area off Birdseye Hollow Road in Wayne. The victim, who did not know her attacker, was riding her bicycle in the area. The man is accused of assaulting the girl Aug. 18, causing injuries to her face and extremities, according to state police at Bath. McEathron did not sexually assault the girl, authorities said. The victim was able to escape her attacker when he left her briefly unattended. McEathron, who was arrested in early January, was indicted without the results of a DNA sample he provided to investigators shortly after his arrest. Steuben County District Attorney John Tunney said his office has not yet received those results.

Witnesses describe Thurber as cruel bully

While other teens' pictures appeared throughout the high school yearbooks, Thurber's face showed up in only two places each year: his class photo and his football team photo.

Thurber, who had been hurt by cruelty, acted out with a cruelty of his own, Swartzell says.

Thurber called others hurtful names, Swartzell said.

"He would be mean first, most of the time.... He had a mean spirit to him."

Instead of turning the other cheek or winning people over, Thurber went out of his way to pick on others, Swartzell said.

One example: The two teens would be driving around, and it would irritate Thurber if a child crossed too slowly in front of them.

Thurber would bolt from the car, yank off his belt, chase down the smaller child and start whipping the kid, Swartzell said.

Chalk River failure risk overstated: Experts

In June 2005, a report from Howden's unit fired a verbal broadside at Atomic Energy. The reactor was being run by people prone to "overconfidence," "complacency" and "deficiencies in management oversight and safety culture." Repeated problems at the reactor "erode confidence in the licensee's qualification to safely manage the work," the report concluded in some of the strongest language ever used by the safety commission.

While acknowledging many of the facts in the commission reports, top Atomic Energy officials like Brian McGee, the company's chief nuclear officer, vigorously defended the competence of NRU staff and insisted the reactor had always operated safely.

Although both deal in nuclear matters, AECL and the CNSC are different beasts. Atomic Energy is a federal Crown corporation, which designs and sells nuclear power reactors in the competitive market and also operates extensive research facilities at the sprawling Chalk River site.
